Empowering the Future: AABE Announces the 2024 Scholarship Handbook Release

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you—the release of the 2024 American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) Scholarship Handbook! At AABE, our commitment to fostering education and diversity in the energy sector remains unwavering, and we’re proud to offer scholarships to students who aspire to make a difference in business, physical sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

AABE National & Regional Scholarship Program: Empowering Dreams

Our mission at AABE is to directly influence the deliberations and developments of energy policies, regulations, emerging technologies, and environmental issues. As a vital part of this mission, we annually award seven scholarships, including six Regional scholarships at $3,000 each and one National scholarship at $5,000. The National scholarship is a reoccurring award for up to four years, provided the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA and remains enrolled in an eligible major.

How to Apply: Your Path to Success

Ready to take the next step in your academic journey? The AABE National & Regional Scholarship Application for 2024 is now open! Interested students can apply by visiting our AABE Scholarship Application. This centralized platform streamlines the application process, ensuring that eligible candidates from across the nation have the opportunity to be considered for these prestigious scholarships.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria: Setting the Bar High

To be considered for an AABE scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Unweighted academic average of B or better (3.0 on a 4.0 scale)
  • Graduating high school senior intending to enroll in an accredited college or university next semester
  • Pursuing a major in business, physical sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)
  • Belonging to underrepresented groups (African Americans, Hispanics, or Native Americans)

While AABE-administered scholarships were founded to address funding inequities in education resources for African Americans, they are open to applicants of all ethnicities. We strongly encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply and become part of our vibrant community.

Application Process: Local Chapters Making a Difference

The AABE local chapters play a crucial role in the selection process. They review applications, select local scholarship winners, and forward the top-ranked candidates to the National Scholarship Committee for consideration of regional and national awards.
