Throughout his close to 40-year career in the electric utility industry, Malcolm has served in various leadership positions. As General Manager, he currently leads Duke Energy’s Florida Customer Care Operations centers with locations in Clearwater and Lake Mary. His team is responsible for providing Duke Florida’s over 1.6 million customers with an exceptional experience.

Malcolm is actively involved in the Central Florida community where he serves on the board of directors for the Heart of Florida United Way and A Gift for Teaching. He has also served on the board of directors of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando, and the Central Florida Urban League.

Malcolm is a graduate of Leadership Seminole and Leadership Orlando programs. He holds a Bachelor’s in Business Management (Bachelors) and Master’s in Organizational Management. He is a Florida native, and he and his wife Deborah Rios-Barnes live in Ocoee and have five adult children.
